GOBO ARTWORK GUIDELINES
| If
you are unfamiliar with terms described below, you may wish
to forward these guidelines to your graphic artist or the vendor
who created the graphic for you. |
To expedite
the production of Chromgobos®
and ensure high quality output, please follow our guidelines, and if possible
submit your artwork electronically (see below).
For line-art...
Choose from one of the
following vector formats.
- .eps (Encapsulated Postscript)
- .ai (Adobe Illustrator),
- .cdr (CorelDraw) or
- .wmf (Windows Metafile)
Convert all text to
outlines. Converting
text to outlines (or vector art rather than fonts) eliminates any problems with
font substitutions and interpretations.
Ensure that your graphic
has no overlapping objects. Think
of inputting the file to a plotter, not a printer. Areas with
fills must be fully enclosed to prevent leakage. (See
examples of what is and what
is not acceptable)
NOTE: In the event
that the image has to be reworked, the customer will incur an additional $60 charge.
If your
camera-ready art is only available in bit-mapped format
(Examples
of bitmapped artwork are .tif and .bmp.)
The graphic
must be at least 4 x 4 inches in size but no larger than 8 x 8
inches. The
resolution should be at least 600 DPI. Please consider providing
the files in high-resolution to ensure the highest quality output. For
either black
and white or color bitmapped images, save in either the .bmp or
uncompressed .tiff format.
We recommend that DERKSEN
convert all bit-mapped files to a vector format. The
charge for the conversion is $60, unless the graphic image is extremely complicated.
Should the customer
elect not to have the file converted, the customer assumes responsibility for
possible inaccuracies in the representation of the submitted graphic. No
refunds will be made for gobos manufactured under these terms.
Camera-ready
Art...
Camera-ready art submitted
on paper with a printer resolution of at least 600 DPI and at least 4 x 4
in size, but not larger than 8 1/2 x 11 can be processed.
We recommend that DERKSEN
scan and convert these files to vector format. The
charge for the conversion is $60, unless the graphic image is extremely complicated.
Should the customer
elect not to have the file converted... Customer
assumes responsibility for possible inaccuracies in the representation of the
submitted graphic.
No refunds will be
made for gobos manufactured under these terms.
Transmit your file(s)
via e-mail to graphics@goboworld.com
Your artwork files may
be transmitted in either Macintosh or PC format. Encoded files may take a little
longer to process but most encoded files can be de-coded. Avoid sending files
that have been compressed with the Stuffit utility.
Since these files can be
very large (> 1 Megabyte) and can usually not be compressed effectively, you
may wish to send this type of artwork either on magnetic or opti-magnetic media
(ZIP diskettes or CD-ROM) to our offices at:
